What is River Club?

It’s a pair of communities serving UGA and greater Athens, offering apartments and townhomes with comfortable residences, attractive amenities and a quiet environment, all in a beautiful setting among trees and rolling hills.

What is the difference between River Club and The Townhomes?

River Club Apartments offers 2, 3 and 4-bedroom apartments in a 93-acre park-like location off Macon Highway. The Townhomes at River Club offers 3 and 4-bedoom townhome-style residences located on 32 acres of rolling hills, about a half mile away off Timothy Road. Both locations are served by Athens Transit Route 9 and residents can enjoy all the amenities of both communities.

Is River Club part of the University of Georgia?

River Club is a privately owned and professionally managed community. Click here for more information about the management and ownership.

Can I live with friends, or can you match me with roommates?

You can select your roommate(s), or you can apply on your own and we can match you with other students. Applicants answer a short list of lifestyle questions to help in the matching process.

What are per-person contracts?

Instead of requiring all roommates to sign a joint lease, each person at River Club has their own individual contract, with one person per bedroom. This means you are only responsible for paying for yourself — not your roommates. Even if a roommate moves out or other bedrooms in your residence are empty, you only pay the rate for your bedroom.

What is included in the rate?

Each resident at River Club pays a flat rate that includes:

  • Furniture package, including full-size bed
  • Wi-Fi and a wall-mounted HDTV in living room (in apartments)
  • Water & sewer, trash removal
  • Washer and dryer in each residence
  • Parking for residents and guests
  • Community features — pool, fitness center, etc.

Are private bathrooms available?

Yes. All of the apartments and townhomes at River Club feature a private in-suite bathroom for each bedroom.

What size are the apartments?

The spacious accommodations at River Club range from 2 to 4 bedroom and apartments, and 3 to 4 bedroom two-story townhomes, all with private bedroom-bathroom suites.

Are the homes furnished?

Yes, all of the apartments and townhomes include a complete set of furniture, including full-size beds, desks and chairs, sofa and armchair, coffee table and dining furniture. To see a sample of the furniture and other finishes, please visit our model apartment and townhome.

When do the contracts start and end?

The standard term is August 12, 2022 to July 20, 2023, with payments made in 12 equal installments. Limited alternate terms may be available; please inquire with our staff. Click here for a sample agreement of the apartments or here for a sample agreement of the townhomes.

Is a co-signer or financial guaranty required?

After a Housing Agreement is signed, each resident is required to secure their financial obligation in one of three ways: by providing a qualifying guarantor (often a parent); by pre-paying the final 2 installments; or by purchasing a third-party guaranty from our partner, Leap. In limited cases, we may also waive the requirement for a financial guaranty if a resident has sufficient income of their own.

Can I pay by credit card?

Yes. Residents can pay online 24 hours per day, by credit card or ACH electronic checking. River Club also offers automatic payment by credit card, debit card or checking account — just fill out one page, one time and payments will be made automatically. Convenience fees apply for credit card and debit card payments.

Will my financial aid cover charges at River Club?

Your living costs at River Club can be covered by financial aid, just like on-campus housing. Any available financial aid funds, after university charges are satisfied, are released to the student for non-institutional expenses, such as off-campus housing. These funds can be used to pay charges at River Club. Regular payment deadlines will continue to apply.

Is River Club open to non-students?

Most of the residents at River Club are students at the University of Georgia, with some students from North Georgia College, Athens Tech and Piedmont College as well. The per-person contracts are also designed with students in mind. Nonetheless, River Club is an Equal Opportunity housing provider and welcomes applications from non-students. Family members are welcome as well, subject to occupancy limits. Because of the need to match student apartment-mates, non-students must apply together with enough apartment-mates to fill a residence.

What kind of safety and security are provided?

River Club provides community courtesy patrols at select times. Bedroom doors have individual locks. Management staff are also on-site and can be reached by a 24-hour phone number.

What are the policies on pets, smoking and guests?

All indoor areas at River Club are non-smoking. Guests are welcome at all times, subject to the consent of apartment-mates and security considerations. Overnight guests are welcome, with limits on the number of days and guests. River Club is pet-friendly in select residences; restrictions apply.

Can I park my vehicle at River Club?

River Club offers free parking for all residents, plus available guest parking at no charge.

What other transportation options will I have?

The Athens Transit bus #9 stops right at the front entrances of both River Club Apartments and The Townhomes, hourly on Monday through Friday. UGA and downtown Athens are just minutes away.
